RSD Class of 2013 Graduates and Commencement Ceremony 06/21/13
Rochester School for the Deaf celebrated the accomplishments of its seven high school graduates during their commencement ceremony, held in the Westervelt Hall auditorium, the evening of Friday, June 21, 2013. Seniors in the Class of 2013 are:

Jaron Alexander Rehkop, ofHenrietta, New York

Superintendent/CEO Dr. Harold Mowl, his wife Mrs. Mary Mowl and members of the RSD Board of Directors welcomed graduates and their family members at a reception in their honor before the commencement ceremony in the Westervelt Hall Learning Resource Center. The commencement ceremony began with piano accompaniment by RSD teacher Mrs. Pamela McInerney. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by RSD student Cayne Aggas. Opening remarks were provided by Mr. Bernard Hurwitz, President of the RSD Board of Directors. Graduate Cooper Norris delivered the Class of 2013 salutatory address. An Interlude titled "A Tribute to the RSD Class of 2013" was performed by RSD students Cayne Aggas, Brianna Di Giovanni and Gabriella Simons, under the direction of RSD teaching assistant Ms. Victoria Nordquist. Dr. Mowl introduced Dr. Scott Smith, MD, MPH, as the commencement speaker for this year. Dr. Smith, who is deaf, is a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical center. Special awards were presented by Mr. S. Chris Bradley, RSD Director of Student Life Programs and Mr. Hurwitz. Diplomas were presented by Ms. Nancy Heaney, RSD Director of High School Programs, with assistance from Dr. Mowl and Mr. Hurwitz. Graduate Klima Klimentyeva delivered the Class of 2013 valedictory address. After Dr. Mowl's closing remarks, Brianna Di Giovanni recited the "RSD Alma Mater." Thank you to our three interpreters: Ms. Carla Bonaldi, Mr. Gene DiVincenzo and Mr. David Gratzer. Congratulations graduates!
