Gallaudet University Basketball Teams Visit RSD 01/11/13
On Friday, January 11, 2013, Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) students and staff welcomed to campus the Gallaudet University (GU) Women’s and Men’s Bison Basketball Teams.

Both teams stayed in the RSD dormitories, and utilized the school’s gyms and fitness center, to prepare for their basketball games against Upstate New York rivals Keuka College, on Saturday, January 12, and Wells College, on Sunday, January 13.

While at RSD, the GU Bison basketball players provided a day full of fun, active and interactive learning, physical education and team building activities for RSD students.

Friday morning began with GU student-athletes leading the “Color Wars” activity for RSD 4th-6th graders in the Learning Resource Center. Meanwhile RSD high school students welcomed GU players into their PE classes in the Westervelt Hall main gym and fitness center.

GU players spent time mid-morning on Friday with RSD children in the Early Childhood Center and in grades 1-3 of the Elementary School Dept.

Before their lunch period, the RSD High School Dept. welcomed GU student-athletes and team coaches for a panel discussion. Topics discussed included college life and career goals, team/player dynamics, and how to set and achieve personal goals.

After lunch GU players and coaches were interviewed in the RSD TV studio for High School Media Class.

Thank you Gallaudet University Women’s and Men’s Basketball Team players and coaches for sharing your time, talents and insights with RSD students and staff – Go Bison!
